My favorite time of year is here. Autumn is so beautiful, with the trees changing to various shades of yellow, orange, and red. Autumn also holds my favorite holiday... Halloween.
I will share with you the festivities I find to occupy my time as they pop up.
14 Days Before Halloween: I took a vacation day from work to attend a Paranormal Conference in Allegan. The speakers were interesting and informative. The 1st speaker was Rev. Kass Hilliard. I learned a new cleansing technique from her presentation. I can hardly wait to try it out. The 2nd speaker was the research curator of the Kalamazoo Valley Museum whose presentation was on "murders in Kalamazoo", which was enlightening. The 3rd speaker was Bonnie Siegers (who incidentally gave me an awesome psychic reading last year) that gave a presentation on her pet psychic side-line. The 4th speaker was Kristy Robinett whose talk included some cases that she helped the authorities with... that was definately interesting. The 5th presentation was by Kat Tedsen and Bev Rydell, authors of "Haunted Travels Of Michigan". They brought some very clear EVPs to share, along with some impressive footage of investigations they have done, as well as information on the history of some of the hauntings.
I had a tarot card reading done by Jacqueline. I asked her specific questions about things that were coming up. And she has been amazingly accurate so far. I'm impressed. It was time well spent.
I restocked my reading materials of the occult/paranormal variety while we were there by adding 4 new books to my ever growing collection... and yes, I really do read all of them!
We ate at the conference. On such a chilly day, I ordered the potato soup and dinner roll, which was really good, and a slice of pumpkin cheesecake that was to die for!
13 Days Before Halloween: We drove about 100 miles to our last Pow Wow of the year. We brought along a friend (Ron Marks)that I've known since 6th grade along with us.
I think I enjoy the traditional dancers best. There was also a hoop dancer and fancy dancers.
I bought 3 new stones for my medicine bag while there. I will be working with them to enhance their potential.
I also enjoyed some traditional foods while there (an indian taco made on fry bread + some corn soup).
11 Days Before Halloween: What was I thinking? Went to see Corey at his tattoo shop to buy a gift for a birthday for Angie... not only did I get the gift, I left with 3 new piercings: labret, tragus, and right nostril (ouch)! I'm done for a while. I feel really energized at this time of year.
7 Days Before Halloween: I went to the Otsego High School Class Of 1975 Mini Reunion. It was nice to see people I haven't seen or talked to in years. Time passes by so quickly, if you blink, it's gone!
6 Days Before Halloween: We saw "Saw VI" tonight... good seasonal movie!
5 Days Before Halloween: Levi came over and wanted to go to the Halloween store in GR... how can I turn that down? Got more accessories for my costume.
2 Days Beore Halloween: Kathie and I watched "Vampire Diaries" and "Twilight" at her house this evening while enjoying deluxe pizza and french fries!
1 Day Before Halloween: Levi and I went to the "Frenzy Haunted House" theme park in Allegan tonight. It was built in an abandoned saw mill. It was totally awesome. I'd have to rate it in the top 2 I've ever been to. We also went into the Dark Maze, which was also awesome.
When we got back to Levi's house, we topped off the evening by watching Rob Zombie's "Halloween"... much more gruesome than the 1st one!
Halloween: What a nice surprise... waiting outside for me when I was leaving to take Ivan out for breakfast, was a kitten under my car. If he's not a lost kitten, I will name him Spooky after the holiday he was found on!
I got to see the Grandninjas tonight while they were out trick-or-treating! It is always good to see them!
And so it will be another year before being able to experience this fabulous holiday again.
