The answer to this question is no.

Life is a lesson. Each life is affected by previous ones. If you view life as a school and each subsequent life as a grade level, not remembering your past lives is illogical. Since each life builds upon and is affected by previous ones, lack of conscious knowledge holds you back. It's like having to be taught the multiplication tables over and over again because you forgot them. You don't get very far in math if you can't multiply.

Children naturally remember their past lives. In cultures where this is accepted, these memories are encouraged and the child benefits from them. In cultures such as the West, these memories are discouraged. If you discourage something subjective enough, it is suppressed. Hence, the general populations lack of knowledge or even interest in their past lives.

We are a culture that is having to learn the multiplication tables over and over and not getting very far. It doesn't have to be this way but the individual is going to have to be self-motivated because society doesn't want you to remember. It is as simple as that.

As an update to this post, there is recent news about an 11 year old boy who has recalled verifiable information from a lifetime in WW2. It has been published in a book called Soul Survivor. Here is the product description from Amazon:

This is the story of James Leininger, who-- a little more than two weeks after his second birthday-- began having blood-curdling nightmares that just would not stop. When James began screaming out recurring phrases like, "Plane on fire! Little man can't get out!" the Leiningers finally admitted that they truly had to take notice.

When details of planes and war tragedies no two-year-old boy could know continued-- even in stark daylight-- Bruce and Andrea Leininger began to realize that this was an incredible situation. SOUL SURVIVOR is the story of how the Leiningers pieced together what their son was communicating and eventually discovered that he was reliving the past life of World War II fighter pilot James Huston. As Bruce Leininger struggled to understand what was happening to his son, he also uncovered details of James Huston's life-- and death-- as a pilot that will fascinate military buffs everywhere.

In SOUL SURVIVOR, we are taken for a gripping ride as the Leiningers' belief system is shaken to the core, and both of these families come to know a little boy who, against all odds and even in the face of true skeptics, harbors the soul of this man who died long ago.

The past is always a part of us!

Well, the book is out and it's good. More filler than I would like about the day to day mundane, I'd say about 2/3rds. But the 1/3rd that actually deals with the evidence of reincarnation is excellent.

I cannot tell how many people view these forums but there doesn't appear to be much interest in reincarnation. That's unfortunate as past lives do affect us.

I recommend this book. Another excellent case of verifiable past life information.
