Anyone know more about a ritual with cross and egg?

In the forests around the town where I live someone has been making crosses (probably with salt) about one foot wide and breaking eggs, leaving the eggshells. The general public and authorities are getting rather upset about this. I do rituals in nature myself and I would hate to see this forbidden by authorities or instilling fear with the public. I have managed to refrain the officials from going to the press for now hoping to find out a bit more before they do.

Apparently someone was seen doing this ritual, but when seen he ran away and drove off. At the site I noticed a hole had been made to lower layers of the astral and guardian spirits had been summoned. Also the life force in the area was a bit warped, probably to do with the scrifice of the eggs. It appears to be a summoning ritual, but this has been repeated dozens of times of the past few months in the area.

Any experiences or knowledge of such a ritual would be appreciated.

I know of two instances in which an egg is used such as this.

A) In the past during the times of religious persecution people would celebrate their Mass in secret in nature. The secret sign for entrance was a blown egg with a fish painted on it. Upon stepping into the area where the Mass would be held the eggs were crushed to destroy any evidence of the Christian faith incase authorities came upon them.

B) I do not practice such things myself and do not claim to be knowledgeable. But I have read in some of the books that take inspiration from practices and suggest taking an egg, writing a request on the egg in wax, putting the request in your mind, your heart, and your words and then crushing the egg. I don't know how far from true practices this concept is. But perhaps the person is just dabbling and has heard of these rituals.
